This an old fishing boat at rest in the Monterey Bay harbor.I lived there for 22 years and was always amazed at the Italian,Cicilian and Greek fisherman that went out in the Pacific to fish.Needless to say, some of the best and freshest seafood can be found in the restaraunts in Monterey.Especially at The Old Fishermans Wharf.Try Fishermans grotto if you ever visit the peninsula.Awesome food.!!!!
Two climbers can be seen in the center of this photo of El Capitan climbing the sheer face of this Granite beauty.El Capitan is one of the hardest climbs in North America. The two climbers are pretty much dead center in this photo. One of our treasures here in the USA.Go see Yosemite!!!!!!Just do it!!!!
This is a partial view of the Bixby Creek Bridge in Big Sur Calif.I believe it is still the biggest single span bridge on the west coast. This bridge was built in 1931 at a cost of $199,000.Try to do that today at that price!!!The coast highway 1 and the 5 bridges that were built helped the economy during the depression as it put alot of workers back in the work force. If you have never traveled up or down Highway 1 from Monterey, you should strive to do it at least once.Unsurpassed beauty!!!!!Monterey rocks!!!!!
The famous Bixby Bridge from the backside. This structure was built in 1932 at a cost of $199,000.Hard to belive and it is still standing strong.Another testament to american ingenuity.I have driven over that bridge hundreds of times and loved every second of the trip.Either going to Big Sur or back home to Monterey!!
This is a famous Cyprus tree in Point Lobos State Park called"The General". Cyprus trees are abundant in Monterey and along the coast.Even after the soil and rocks fall away these trees find a way to root and thrive. This is very old and I hope it is still there next time I go back.I salute The General.!!!!!
